This usually means you put the files in the wrong place; the structure needs to go Rome - Total War/WHTW/data not Rome - Total War/WHTW/WHTW/data or Rome - Total War/data/WHTW/data

I did good that, but I was running on 1.1 RTW, updated, now working, tho some soldiers have pictures of an axe on top of a long stick(I know that was supposed to be a poleaxe but I have such a great time laughing at them fighting with pictures on sticks LOL) and thank you for your reply!

So finally got the mod working, is not really that hard but the comments and the instructions in the game makes it confusing and could even be interpreted as being conflicting so quick questions and answers.

Where do i put the "mod".

Drag the \WHTW\ Folder to the Main Rome-Total War Folder (The same one where the .exe is). So it Should be Rome-total war\WHTW\.

Commom mistakes:
-Dragging all the folders and files from the WHTW and just putting it on the Rome-Total. (If the Altdorf,Brettonia,Chaos Icos are in the same folder as RomeTW.exe you prob ****** it up.

-Depending on how you Unzip you can end up with WHTW\WHTW\"Modscontent", just ignore the first MHTW folder and just drag the second one, it should end up being Rome - Totalwar\WHTW\(Here where the Brettonia.ico, altdorf icos and the folder should be.
*My is called Rome - Total War but the name doesn't matter what we refer to Rome - total war or Rome Folder is the main folder with the RomeTW.exe
*That's what the Readmefile on the game refers to, is explaning in a very confusing way that you should not drop the mod on the Data Folder of Rome - Total war and explaning that Both Vanilla and WHTW have their own data folder.

-----------------------
-Stupid question: Does it work in any version?

No, you need at LEAST 1.5.

-I think my game is in 1.6 cuz i have barbarian invasion and when i open my BI.exe it says 1.6 and i also have alexander does it work with those?

Yes, but you're gonna use the vanilla .exe, the 1.6 patch only updates barbarian invasion to 1,6

-When i put -mod:WHTW it says "Not:valid" or just doesn't work HELP

This one is so easily fixed just put a space after the ", It should be (yourpathofthegame\Rome - Total War\RomeTW.exe" -mod:WHTW) If you try to just put ("yourpathofthegame\Rome - Total War\RomeTW.exe"-modWHTW) it's going to fail, that's also why the steam version always work for people cuz you put the parameters in another tab.

So that's it go play it

This is really confusing but to clarify the author here is talking about the Optional "Changing The Logo" part of the readme.

I explained in more depth but to simplify the WHTW Folder needs to be on the same as the RomeTW.exe folder, Make sure you're not dragging /WHTW/WHTW/"files", Drag only the WHTW folder with the mod content

Hey can somebody help me? im a tad bit confused when it comes to placing the WHTW folder. The readme.txt tells me i need to place it in the data folder? Sorry if im not making sense, just new to installing mods in general.

Reply Good karma Bad karma0 votes

No, you place it on the same level as the data folder, just inside the main RTW folder. Hopefully that helps. :)

Can it be placed inside modfolder?
p.s. I'm guessing the mod doesn't require a clean RTW?

The mod is fully modfoldered and shouldn't over-write any part of a RTW 1.5 install.

I have the same problem, I put in -mod:WHTW as well, and it just says:"not valid". I don't know what I'm writing wrong.
Someone in the comments said they clicked the shortcut inside the WHTW folder to skip the instalation, but if I click on that it just starts Rome: Total War

Do you have the steam version? I've been having the same issue and it looks like the code is set up for the cd version, not the steam version because steam keeps the game files in a different place.

Just need a Space after the " so it should be
\RomeTW.exe" -mod:WHTW

and not

\RomeTW.exe"-mod:MHTW

"i'm is trying to help new people to install the mod not the actual person who posted on 2014"

You may be thinking of Warhammer 40,000, whereas this is Warhammer Fantasy - though the Imperial Army of Altdorf are also definitely fighting for the Emperor. And the Imperial Army of Middenheim are fighting for a different one...

There's something wrong with your RTW shortcut, I think. Make a new shortcut and then add the -mod:WHTW to the command line rather than using the one provided.

I can't seem to get this to work. I have the Rome: Total War Gold Edition installed under New Volume (J:) > Rome Total War > Rome - Total War Gold Edition, then the folders inside in order are BI, data, Miles, preferences, saves, WHTW. The folders inside WHTW in order are custom, data, preferences, replays, saves, then a bunch of icons the and the readme. I made the new desktop shortcut to the RomeTW.exe file. I right click hit properties, copy and paste -mod:WHTW into the box which says target on it, then once I click OK the error message comes up saying

"The name '-mod:WHTW' specified in the Target box is not valid. Make sure the path and file name are correct."

Any help? I checked inside the game and it is version 1.5

Hey mate, I had the same problem. In the end I just clicked on the shortcut inside the WHTW folder and it loaded up! Can't tell you for why, but if you want to play the game, that's the solution that worked for me.

When I fight against Chaos it crashes. Is it because I don't have alexander or because of some updates?

If you're still having troubles with Chaos, it's the Marauder horsemen that are bugged. There's a fix Jubal posted on February, I think. Here's the link Exilian.co.uk
